How are the New's Years resolutions coming along ?????

If you are like me New Year's resolutions are part of your upcoming New Year. Now that we are about 6 months into the New Year I thought I would put the question out there to the readers of the blog "how are the New Year's resolutions coming along??" I guess for some you have to sit back for a moment and remember what they were...if there were any! I have over the past 4 years tried to get 3 goals or "resolutions". They are: a mental goal, physical and a spiritual goal. I have found this to be a nice mix that can all work together. So during the month of November last year I began to ponder the idea. Here is what I came up with

Physical
Get moving more whether it's walking, riding or the gym. I felt overall this would benefit me in many ways.

Mental
At the end of each day just before getting into bed  practice progress muscle relaxation. This is supposed to help greatly with stress.

Spiritual
To know that there are many things around me in the cosmos that I may not understand and my never understand but to take time to enjoy them for what they are and I may not have to understand them to do that.

So six months later and how have I been doing........
Physical
There is a tread mill in the spare room that to date has not done one revolution.........the gym membership still sounds like a good idea...but just an idea...I have been doing some walking and making sure that at work I walk when I can.

Mental
Not been doing to bad in this area, I have found that the relaxation time before bed has been very good at clearing the mind and giving me a better nights sleep.

Spiritual
The problem here has been trying to find the time to do the slowing down and enjoying. I am caught up in the rush rush rush  "getter done" and get on to the next thing. I have not slowed down and have ignored the what I don't understand stuff. Told myself "I will find time to do that later"

How are your New Years Resolutions coming along??

I don't make New Year's resolutions but "resolve" to alter lifestyles and habits when it is evident changes are needed. Interesting, mine are pretty much the same as yours, and probably that of most others also. I know that within a couple months my diet will change for the better, and I will be getting much more exercise. I doubt that my levels of stress will ever deminish. Hopefully, better diet and more exercise will attack the stress thing. 73 Dick

Hi Mike, I don't make resolutions either. Physically I have to watch my weight gain. I like to eat... ;-) Mentally, I am doing OK, now I don't work any more my life is very easy, without too much stress. Spiritual: I like zen. And I am reading enough spiritual food to satisfy the soul. But I must admit that my life conditions / events are quite stable. I realize that serious life events can bring down my human condition. 73 Paul

Hi Mike, I decided last year I had to reduce the stress levels....
Stop listening to the daily news propoganda was one of my resolutions...glad to say I've kept that one going..

Main resolution was, write more poetry and play more guitar...so far so good...:0)

Mental and Spiritual levels are taken care of by my astronomy hobby.... as Vincent Van Gogh said...

"For my part I know nothing with any certainty,
but the sight of the stars makes me dream".

We all need to dream :0)

Hi Dick, the idea of a resolutions just give me the extra kick that I sometimes need. Exercise is very good for combating stress along with diet is is a very good directions.

Paul, while I was on vacation the stress level was way down and the relaxation was way up. It sure makes me long for the retirement days for sure. I too have to watch what I eat and drink as it goes right to the mid section.

Mark, I whole heartily agree regarding the news I have for some time tried to stay away from it. Sure its nice to know what is going on in the world but I am sure there is some good out there. The news only seems to focus on the bad. It is kinda funny on a slow news day how they will go to the ends of the earth to find disaster.

Hello Mike,
I don't make resolutions.
I change my myself from day to day, by watching the things I think. If I don't like what I think, I stop this thought. This is easy when you just focus on your breathing.

I don't react (anymore) compulsive to people who are speaking to speak, or people who will not listen.

I discovered that, I don't have to work hard, to be . . . . But if necessary, I work hard.
Work hard, but live relaxed.

I enjoy many things every day. I love the people around me, in the knowledge the everyone is precious. I enjoy being a young grandfather. I love both sunshine and heavy rain. I like to listen to beautiful music.

Enjoying is not something to do in the future.

I know that I can change, just by focusing on what I want to be. And time takes care, that not every thing is happening in the same moment.
