What is wrong with this picture???

I am operating in the CW CQWPX contest today and just can't contact anyone. Yesterday all was good but today NOTHING at all. Have a look at the above picture and see if you can see what's wrong. It took me some time as I kept overlooking the obvious.

  1. I'm not sure what rig this is, but do you have delta-TX set for up 1? I'm assuming that VFO 2 being in USB shouldn't matter.

    1. Good afternoon David and thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, the rig is the Icom 7610 and yes the XIT or delta-TX is on! I was transmitting 1KC above the receive frequency and I have NEVER used the RIT/XIT ever on a radio but for some reason it was on and screwing with me. It took me about 15 minutes to clue in.
Thanks for checking out the blog and you were right on with your guess.

    2. I've got a 7600 and while I thought it was an Icom I wasn't sure. Glad you found the problem and didn't take too much time!

    3. Very nice radio the 7300, I found the issue out of the corner of my eye as I was looking at the screen and it jumped out at me.
Have a great rest of the week David.

  2. Listening on 044.5 and xmitting on 045.5 with a bandwidth of 250hz? Could that be it?

    1. Hello Paul thanks for reading the post and commenting, yes I had the transmit RIT on for some reason and as I said in the comment above I NEVER have EVER used the RIT/XIT function. The filter was set to 250 for contesting as stations are very close and I have to narrow things down. But that would not affect anyone hearing me as it the filter is just for receive.
Thanks for leaving a comment Paul have a great week.

  3. Hello Mike, I did the same thing recently while using the mcHF. Evidently, with one of the mods I've been doing, I inadvertently enabled RIT and was transmitting a few kHz away from my rx freq. It took me a bit longer than 15 minutes to figure out what I'd done (but I won't say how long!).

    1. Good afternoon John, well it's good to know that I am not alone on this one. Not really sure how it happened but it did and eventually found it and got back into the action.
