Icom 7610 heat sink issue

Bottom cover removed
In the Icom 7610, there are two ADC (analog-digital converters) that in some rigs an issue with the heat sinks have either become loose or all together falls off. There was an issue during production with certain radios where this was an issue. My serial number did not fall into the run that had this particular problem. BUT I did want to double-check to make sure I had no issue with the ADC heat sinks. I have had very good luck with my 7610. As most have heard the Icom 7610 has a notorious issue with their screens. My rig now is over a year old and I have had no screen issues and I hope I am safe to say that I am out of the woods......but if something does come up with my screen Icom has said that all screen issues are covered no matter the date of your rig.
No issues with heat sinks.
Back to the ADC issue, today I decided to inspect the ADC heat sink to make sure there was no issue. I removed the bottom cover and was thrilled to see both ADC heat sinks were without issue. I know my radio was not one of the production runs that had this issue but it does not hurt to check.

Now that you've done yours and it's clear, I think I'll skip mine. I was more concerned about the screen issue - that will be monitored (excuse the pun) very carefully!

Take care, 73, M7MCQ.

Good evening Tom very nice to hear from you, and I am enjoying reading your posting regarding your antenna analyzer adventure. As for the ADC heat sink this is a link to an Icom tech release that gives the serial numbers of the affected radios. Have a look and see if you are in the clear.

Have a good weekend Tom,

Just looking at that second photo again Mike, it appears that the right-hand heatsink is twisted slightly. I take it that it must have been installed that way? Or is there any chance that it has moved when heated up?

Very good eye Tom, I too just looked at the pic again and when I had the cover off each heat sink was firmly in place and the issue was they pop off or are just hanging on. I don't want to try to remove it to just reposition it a very small amount and in so doing damage the ADC component. But very good eye and thanks for bringing that to my attention.
73 and have a good week.
