9K2MU on 20 meters this evening

One day my call will be in the confirmation box
I had some time to flip the switch on the K3 this evening and the bands at first did not seem to be in great shape. As I tuned around I came across a station that was S2 and up to S6, the station was 9K2MU from Kuwait! He was operating split and it did not seem to be to much action trying to contact him. He was calling CQ and listening I threw my call out there and the propagation gods were not smiling on me as my call was not heard. He did come back to some other stations as time went on but I still threw my call out there. Then he was spotted on a cluster and all hell broke loose! The action went from casual to bumper to bumper. By that time is was tea time for me....which I am sipping as I write this post. Even though I did not contact Kuwait it was very cool to hear him in there and have the opportunity  to make the contact.

The "nail in the coffin" for QRP operators! I hear "very" few DX ops take the time and ask for "QRP" only. We could work them if only given a chance.

Good evening John, for the first time this evening I added /QRP to my call and the op was amazed at what QRP could do... to be honest at times so am I but I never told him that. It's our family secret.

I enjoy "spotting" a new station and adding the "QRP @ 3 W " in the remarks section on the clusters. I watch the "following" entries and look them up on QRZ to see how many are running big beams. It's almost 100% and there's usually a big amp on the desk also.

I hope to get a trend started on the clusters to encourage more QRP DX. Perhaps then they will give the "QRP only" time for us. I think we both know all that power really isn't necessary.

Good morning John, I keep forgetting about QRZCQ and how you can also post and comment on there as well. It would be a great way to get the word out there that QRP can get it done. Also with all the new electronic gizmos coming out the KW amps may start to cause problems.
Have a good weekend John
