One site I have booked marked and is a link on my blog is Southgate Amateur News. I was browsing it this evening and came across but yet another change COVID 19 has brought about. This time it's contesting and to tell you the truth I was wondering when this was going to come about. The RSGG or the Radio Society of Great Britain to which I might mention I am a member of. It was released today by the Society that contest rules regarding Multi op entries will no longer be accepted with immediate effect. The post does say it is until June 2020 but I imagine this is a fluid date. Single op from a shared station will not be accepted unless certain criteria are met. This is all to practice social distancing to which I support. I have not yet heard if Canada (RAC)or the United States (ARRL) will follow and any of the Europian countries as well. Speaking of social distancing I was watching the news and it seems like Spring Break is underway, here in Canada a gaming company released 2 new games. The message was "you just have to come and get your hands on it" This had young people in very long lines go purchase the game. I just don't get it I'm not a fear monger but we have to stop COVID 19.
Here in New Brunswick a state of emergency has been instated all stores are closed excluding pharmacies, hardware stores, automotive gas stations and finally grocery stores. Things are getting interesting!
Keep well my fellow Hams.

Hi Mike. here in the UK it's JUST starting to wake people up to the seriousness of it all because the Pubs have been closed from today! So what do the Brits do in their masses? They have a good old BINGE on their last night. Ridiculous as far as I'm concerned - like a bunch of irresponsible teenagers!
Schools, restaurants, cafes, gyms, etc, have all been closed, but that's about it for now. Everyone else continues about their daily business, using "sardine can" transportation such as buses, trains and subways! That too seems crazy to me but what do I know?
Anyway, keep safe.

Good morning Tom, I was just reading online how the UK was closing Pubs (a very popular hobby for the Brits) and I agree that a binge was not a wise move on the Pub owners. In large cities like London (I was there about 6 years ago and it's very nice) it's so hard to not get around other than transit. I am happy that we are not back in Toronto as they have a similar situation there with crowed transit. In Canada the popular way of thinking is to just stay at home, well that's nice if you can work from home. There are many out there that are not able to work from home and bottom line is the bottom line, and they just can't afford to stay for weeks at a time.
Thanks for stopping by Tom and have a great weekend.....stay safe.

I agree totally, Mike. The changes to contest rules I wouldn't have thought of but I really have to scratch my head when spring break in Florida has the beaches full. I just don't get it. Back to radio, I expect that the bands will be filling up as people have more free time and realize that perhaps the "cycle" isn't as bad as everyone believed. I'm sure many don't even bother if they think the bands are poor. I know that I can get contacts daily on 30M with qrp and a tuned wire antenna. Cheers and stay safe.
Good afternoon Jame and very nice to hear from you and thanks for taking the time to leave a comment on the blog, yes I imagine there is lots of head scratching going on out there. Yes as for ham radio today 20m was hopping with a contest, and I was receiving without issue stations from Europe including Israel as well. Things are in the dumps regarding the bands we just need a worldwide contest to prove that theory wrong.
Have a great weekend James,
