The Blue screen of DEATH!!!!

The Blue screen of death
Saturday afternoon started out in a very relaxed way on the computer looking at blogs and then the monitor went a blue colour with lots of geek mumbo jumbo on it......then the PC restarted. All seemed to be ok until it happened again and again turns out this is the "Blue screen of death" I had the bright idea of loading my Win XP CD and running the repair option.  From here it went downhill real fast as the repair process went on it's marry way I noticed it sure was taking along time. I then just happen to see that part way through the repair program the Blue screen of death showed up again. Seems even Win XP repair was caught up in the loop now. I was not able to get back to Windows after trying all kinds of back door options, it seemed my only option was to reformat my hard drive. The thing that bothered me was I was not able to get back into Windows to back up any of my MANY programs!!!! The hard drive formatted ok last night and now it's time to load drivers, programs and then to get them running and happy with my radios.  UPDATE......driver loading not going as planned for some reason the onboard video card can't be found.  In the process of updating to Win XP SP3 maybe that will do the trick.....oh and for those wondering how this blog was done and put up????? Im on my blessed MAC at the moment....:)
Merry Christmas to all my readers!!!

Mike, it always comes at a time you don't need these kind of problems. I hope it's not your motherboard failing. Good luck and merry Christmas to you and yours. 73, Bas

By the way I just started my computer again after a BSOD. Problems with win32k.sys. Seems to be a problem with the RAM. And I was just reading blogs as well!!!

Mike,
Good afternoon, I had 'the blue screen of death' happen to me as well and lost everything including my RadioSport logs. Hopefully, this story has a happy ending, if not, I ended up purchasing thumb drives to store my data including a donated hard drive. Also, for the most important files (eg. logs) I added an application called Google Drive for cloud storage.

Good evening Paul, well so far so good with the PC at this point but if it's the motherboard it will rear it's ugly head again!! I thought I would reformat and go from there just incase it was some type of software conflict or some other geek thing.

Hey Scot how is it in the sunny hot south! Well I lost everything and as you put it I am going to have to look for something to store my "stuff" on. I too have lost a whole log from AClogger. But I do believe it was uploaded to clublog just before this whole issue started.....will cross my fingers and check. I will also look into Google Drive as well.
Merry Christmas Scot

My YL's old Vista laptop goes blue from time to time. Fortunately nothing stored and she uses it to read e-mail, do jigsaw puzzles, and play cards. Nothing more.

Merry Christmas to you and family, Mike.

This is the first time this has ever happen to me and I have had lots of Windows machines so when it first showed up did not think it was a big deal......but it is if it hits you like a rock it can cause headaches.
Merry Christmas Dick and to your YL as well.

Hi Mike, that's one thing for sure you don't want to see. My PC hard drive was crashed, but my cell phone and iPad were a good stand in. I could do a lot of internet things. Have a Merry Christmas. 73 Paul

Good morning Paul. we do have other PC's in the house to use so getting on the net was no trouble at all. The thing that really is my own fault is I failed to back anything up on my PC and so I lost everything...logs, radio programs and the settings, bookmarks from the web pages and so on......I hope this time I have learned my lesson.
Mike
Happy New Year Paul to you and your family.
