I would really like to keep Winxp but I am on the net all the time and just not sure things would be as secure as I would like them too. With Win7 pro you can do a dual boot with WinXP (I purchased the Pro) and run programs that don't seem to run in Win7 all that well. Thanks for the info and do stop by the blog as often as you like to send your input out.
Have a great week
MikeVE9KK https://www.blogger.com/profile/04720839744779758420noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2968254002071870786.post-38372389522119568402014-04-14T18:11:32.053-04:002014-04-14T18:11:32.053-04:00You have to do a clean install unless you want to ...You have to do a clean install unless you want to upgrade to Vista first.

Ham Radio is the only thing I still use Windows for. I upgraded my Ham Radio system from dual-boot WinXP and Linux to Linux with a VM running Win7.

With the end of WinXP, I also created a WinXP VM and upgraded it with the last set of updates. I have a copy of that in a secure location if I ever need to try a piece of software on it due to issues with Win7.Travellerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17263645693176777616noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2968254002071870786.post-84154975538893107832014-04-11T17:23:02.857-04:002014-04-11T17:23:02.857-04:00Good afternoon Phil, great to hear from you and I ...Good afternoon Phil, great to hear from you and I hope the weather is fine out your way. I am happy to read that all the ham programs are getting along find with Win7. I am also going to hope the same with my PC as well BUT as you did I will keep the dual boot option open just in case. I hope Win7 is around for some time to come as I just updated to it. :)))VE9KK https://www.blogger.com/profile/04720839744779758420noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2968254002071870786.post-44320202298315381152014-04-11T06:53:00.785-04:002014-04-11T06:53:00.785-04:00I just upgraded two XP systems with a clean instal...I just upgraded two XP systems with a clean install of Windows 7 Professional. This made any conflicts non-existent. Sometimes, the old OS can create a few problems during installation, so I flushed the old and installed the new. I also wanted 7 first just in case I wanted a dual boot system with my old XP version (should I have the need to reinstall), which is easier to do with 7 loaded first (IMHO). I have since tossed the dual boot idea as Windows 7 plays well with my currently installed ham programs. I'm good now until Microsoft decides to no longer support Windows 7. If they force Windows 8 on me, I'll go back to paper logging ;0)This Winding Roadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13624488303309270352noreply@blogger.com
